PWI's GEL (Global Education Leadership) program Needs Your Support!
A message from
Valeri Bocage, CEO of Powerful Women International
First, I want to thank those of you that have made a
contribution to GEL (Global Education Leadership) and those of you will in the future, thank you in
advance. See below for the list of contributors.
It is so exciting that we have made such a difference in the
lives of women and children globally!
Recently, I went to four countries in Africa in August 2009 to meet with women leaders there to further the projects and programs PWI is doing in Lagos, Nigeria; Freetown, Sierre Leone; Accra, Ghana and Nairobi, Kenya. I also met with a group of women who traveled from Uganda to the event we held in Nairobi, Kenya who want to start working in collaboration with us in empowering women with HIV.
Our vision is to work with women leaders to help them with their dreams; so they can strengthen their families and communities globally. We are putting structures in place to support members of each city initiate their own community projects.
For instance, in Nairobi, Kenya we are working in partnership with a school that has adopted orphans ages 3 to 17, most of whom have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. They also have a women's clinic for single mothers who live on the premises and support the care taking of the children. We have a core team in place (all volunteers) who are designing the project and are committed to supporting them in the areas of education, infrastructure development, and sustainability. In Freetown, Sierre Leone, we are working with young girls and young adult women from 12-24 years old to be leaders. In Accra, Ghana we are supporting young women in the arts. Lastly, in Lagos, Nigeria we are supporting women in business and those aspiring to be in business through creating local events where participants can share resources, insights, and support.
GEL is working with women and families in these countries and around the world to educate people in all areas of life to have them live productive and healthy lives. We have also adopted a school for children in Nairobi, Kenya. Learn about the school here. Our goal is to connect to cities around the world to help rebuild families and revitalize communities worldwide. We have been able to help women get past extraordinary circumstances to achieve their goals. Our team of professionals and experts help others create vital, enriched lives for themselves and their communities.
Our goal is to connect to cities around the world to empower
leadership in women globally, to help rebuild families and
revitalize communities worldwide especially in Africa. We
have been able to help women in Africa push through
extraordinary circumstances to achieve their goals. We need
to continue to help them so that they can create vital,
enriched lives for themselves and their communities.
I will be assisting with our second PWI
Empowerment event in Nairobi, Kenya and will be meeting with
parliament leaders and community activists in Lagos,
Nigeria; Sierra Leone and Ghana to start PWI connections.
